Clarifications:
Information specific to Region 12:

Forestry B & C events:

Region 12 will be substituting the MSO “Official State Tree List (1/6/12) issued by the
Michigan State event supervisors for the “Official SO National Tree List” in this event.
Students will be allowed to bring:

  1. One 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper two-sided with notes
  2. Two published field guides
  3. The Official State Tree list with hand written notes on the same side of the paper that the species list is printed on is allowed. Species lists with typed notes will not be allowed
  4. Students are NOT allowed to bring the Official Science Olympiad National Tree List” to the event

Forestry (B & C) Clarification(s): 3.a. (12/20/11): The correct spelling for Chinkapin Oak is Quercus muehlenbergii. Region
12 will be using the newly revised (1/6/12) Michigan State Forestry List. Please download from
www.gvsu.edu/mso-r12 . This list has 12 species eliminated from the first version we were provided in Dec.
